Help Navigating Financial Reality

On Wed, May 22, we will launch All the Rules Have Changed, What You MUST Do to Succeed in the New Financial Reality by Matt Rettick. The copy is below. Please check your bonuses at http://alltherules.homestead.com/bonuses.html and let me know ASAP of any changes. I'll be out of town from  Thurs 5/16-5/21 (Monday) so I'd like to get all the changes prior to that.  I've included FB post and tweets and would love to see you really hit it for this launch - Matt Rettick is a well-known financial guru and this should be a great launch. If you didn't opt in for this, just ignore it - many of you have said to include you in all. If you can, promote this book in some way. Thanks so much!

All the Rules Have Changed
By Matt Rettick

This book is for those who are concerned about their financial future? Will you have enough money to retire comfortably one dayDo you feel like you’re drowning in debt? Is your family financially safe? Do you want help succeeding in the new financial reality?

Matt Rettick, is a true financial insider, with over 24 years of personal experience in the financial services industry, covering investments, insurance and asset protection strategies. He is a sought after speaker and advocate for financial education and the need for "longevity planning" in retirement.

Having struggled with debt himself in the past, as well
as witnessing his grandparents suffer hardships because of an under planned retirement, Matt committed himself to raising awareness about the importance of building a sound “Financial Fortress” around your money, your family and life, to create the financial security you’ve always dreamed of. This drive to help others eventually led him to personally help thousands of his own clients, and then assist thousands of other financial advisors across the country on the best ways to help their clients reduce debt, save consistently and invest wisely!

Here's what one expert said,

“Matt Rettick never fails to deliver! I have known him for many years as both a friend and a business associate. Matt, and my husband Jack, co-authored their previous book, Fiscal Fitness – 8 Steps to Wealth & Health, and together we forged a lasting partnership. Matt'shonesty and integrity shine as he guides the reader through his early personal financial woes and ultimate path to success.  He leaves no stone unturned and lays out a bright future for all who follow his plan.“

~ Elaine LaLanne, Wife to the late, great Jack LaLanne

 WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:

You’re probably not going to get rich beyond your wildest dreams. But that’s OK. You still can achieve all that’s important to you.

Don’t expect to make lots of money off the stock market. The Dow Jones industrial average may (or may not) have averaged gains of more than 10 percent a year since 1928, but who has the 80-plus years to see if it makes them wealthy?

The government isn’t going to take care of you, now or later. Government entitlement programs—including Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security—are all in trouble.

Job security—and the benefits that came with it, including a lifetime pension when you retire—is gone forever. You’re on your own. Small businesses, entrepreneurship, and lean corporate machines power today’s economy.

Your home’s equity will never again be a reliable source for pulling out an equity line of credit or a supplement to your income in retirement. Just look at what the recent recession did to home equityin 2008 and 2009.

Health-care costs are rising so rapidly that unless you’re prepared, they’ll destroy you and those you love.

Retirement has been retired! Age 80 has become the new 65. Many of those who reach 65 and want to quit their job can’t because of the economy or what the stock market has done to their nest egg.
·
Don't miss a chance to protect your nest egg and grow it into a secure, reliable, and ever expanding asset and income stream, which will benefit you, your family and your future. And when you buy Matt’s book today, you'll download dozens of great bonus gifts to secure your “financial fortress” and protect your family for generations to come. http://bit.ly/MRett

Do aphrodisiacs work? What exactly are they? How can I use them? We answer these questions and many more during the Simple Sexy Food virtual tour with clinical sex therapist and foodie – Linda De Villers, PhD. There are many ordinary foods that can have aphrodisiac effects – and we’re going to help you understand them.

A Message From Linda De Villers PhD

I created this book to help you enjoy the remarkable relationship between food and sex. These two themes run brightly through my own life both personally and professionally, and are inseparable from my sense of who I am. Having counseled and taught thousands of people on the loving arts, and having fed nearly as many in my kitchens over the years, I find myself in a state of barely contained excitement over the opportunity to share what I know with you. I am the only author in this field to be credentialed in both sexual health and food, having worked and presented internationally and conducted research on the joint topic over the course of my career.

Midwest Book Review –

Every culture has had its own ideas on the aphrodisiac qualities of certain foods. The abilities of some foods to enhance or stimulate human sexuality and sexual responses. Simple Sexy Food is a 247-page compendium showcasing 101 dishes to enhance the libido, spice up bedroom performance, and augment a healthy relations with a loved one. In addition to the recipes, Simple Sexy Food also provides a delineated history of aphrodisiacs, including their use and myths. Unique and thoroughly ‘user friendly’, Simple Sexy Food will prove to be a welcome addition to personal and family cookbook collections, and an ideal gift for newlyweds and the amorously adventurous!

About Simple Sexy Food –

Simple Sexy Food is an aphrodisiac cookbook like no other. Honest and direct, detailed and informative, it’s packed with exclusive recipes, food and sex tips, descriptions and histories of ingredients and even survey data about what food people find sexy. And it’s the only aphrodisiac cookbook written by a clinical sex therapist who also happens to be a foodie!

Cassanova relished the food and meals that accompanied and enhanced his love affairs: he recorded the sensual delight of special meals with his conquests; for him, food was the food of love. Why should it be different for the rest of us? Food and love, two things that sustain us physically and spiritually, have long been associated, and most of us, have a delicious memory or two of when the combination produced a moment that was nothing less than magical. With the right person, preparing and sharing a meal can be a turn-on: intimate, caring, and sensual. The rituals of cooking and dining together can cook up erotic possibilities and create intimacy and romance for all of us. Linda De Villers is a passionate cook who has traveled the world. In Simple Sexy Food, she combines her culinary knowledge with 20 years of experience as a sex and relationship expert to create a sensual self-help guide to help all couples have more magical moments in—and out—of the kitchen.

What are the essential ingredients for a romantic, sensual meal? Food that is luscious and that is especially appealing to all the senses is important; meals are truly “aphrodisiac” when they are experienced as a feast of sensual delights. But for many couples, time—not exotic ingredients—is the ultimate luxury. Getting in the mood for love requires relaxation and setting aside a moment when we can leave workday concerns aside; a little intention—whether it’s a saucy surprise or a seductive invitation—coupled with the pleasure of a special meal that appeals to all the senses can spark moments of intimacy that create all the excitement of spontaneous ones. For couples who have been together for some time, those moments can create even more intimacy, sensuality, and fun.

In its approach and philosophy, Simple Sexy Food is surprisingly simple: Eating together regularly is one factor that significantly contributes to the emotional closeness lovers experience with each other. And in today’s economy, romantic dining-out budgets are shrinking; there’s no better time to get couples in the kitchen, cooking up romance at home. In Simple Sexy Food, Dr. De Villers gives readers simple, fresh, modern recipes for seductive meals, small bites, and drinks, as well as fun, imaginative, and non-intimidating suggestions that will give even shy cooks and would-be seducers more confidence in the kitchen and the bedroom.

Simple Sexy Food redefines aphrodisiacs. In her work as a sex therapist and professor, Dr. De Villers has conducted extensive studies of current attitudes towards aphrodisiacs and the kinds of foods and meals that put modern readers in the mood. While classic aphrodisiac ingredients like oysters, pomegranates, and artichokes are provocative to the palate and the imagination, the most highly-rated romantic foods are simply delectable “passions”—luscious, suggestive foods for romance like chocolate-covered strawberries. Sushi and pasta rate highly, too, and for good reason: sushi may not be a traditional aphrodisiac, but it’s light, sensual, and undeniably sexy. In Simple Sexy Food, timeless aphrodisiac ingredients are highlighted and employed in modern recipes, but what sets Simple Sexy Food apart from other aphrodisiac cookbooks is an equal emphasis on simply delicious foods and meals that will please your partner.

Simple Sexy Food is a first: an aphrodisiac cookbook written by a relationship expert. It will provide ideas and recipes for both weeknight cooking and special occasions. On the recipe pages, it will serve up tantalizing anecdotes from her extensive surveys on how a sensual meal created a romantic moment between lovers and offer sexy serving suggestions. Because Dr. De Villers is a well-known sex therapist, it will also provide a little hand-holding—empowering advice from an expert on how to kick up your confidence a notch in the kitchen and the bedroom. Simple Sexy Food will educate and inspire readers by offering tips for making readers feel sexy before they begin, give serving tips for spicing things up romantically, and give inspiring scene and scenario setting ideas for creating truly delicious moments.

Memoirist's Online Book Tour Introduces Self-Help Book

Unfinished
By Suzanne Gravelle
Category: Memoir, Self Help, Motivation
Publisher: TRUMEDIA
ISBN-10: 192700506X
ISBN-13:978-1927005064
Available at Amazon

The greatest lessons we learn are while trying to find ourselves
Author Suzanne Gravelle has announced the release of UnFinished on November 1st, 2011. The paperback edition is the empowering first novel based on Gravelle’s discovery of life beyond the safe, comfortable, predictable world she had lived in.

“Unfinished" inspires readers to break free and create their own adventures, discover new ways to empower themselves, face their fears and find personal freedom in ways both big and small.

After enjoying a successful and rewarding life as mother and career woman for over 30 years, Suzanne Gravelle found herself at what appeared like,….suddenly turning 50, and at a crossroads: Single with grown children and unsure of her future, Suzanne did what many dream of but never do -- she simply left everything behind, went off the grid and on to an incredible journey into the great unknown.

She knew she had become exhausted, physically depressed but she refused to believe she was mentally depressed, but she finds herself mentally and physically detaching from friends, family and her daily life. So, she gave up her comfortable home and career for both outward and inner self-exploration, to just drive from the furthest point East in Canada, with no destination in mind, to wherever the winding roads would lead until she was ready to stop driving.

Suzanne’s desire for freedom motivated her: “I found myself wanting space… wide open space… and not just an afternoon drive out to the country. So, on May 29th, 2010 I drove away from everything that was safe. After my youngest child came bounding down the stairs, suitcase in hand, rummaged through my fridge, proudly proclaiming he was moving out! That to me was a sign, it was my cue to take advantage of my adventurous gypsy mind, my warrior spirit and move out too! I always said I wanted a smaller home when my children moved out, but my truck….a little smaller than anticipated.”

“After 30 years of raising children, 98% of that as a single parent, I love my children but they are adults and are living their own lives and I was done! I was done with property tax, grass to cut, power bills, grocery shopping, etc., so I packed it all in, sold my beautiful home on five acres, resigned from a career I thought I would do for the rest of my life, kissed my children and friends good bye and not having a partner to consider, I just drove away.”

"There is death, birth, blissful moments, moments where I am almost killed, moments I did not want to wake up and cursed the light when I did, and fantastic people and places I have spent time and of course it has the pre-requisite heart break. It is emotional in many ways and hopefully inspiring. 16 months and 60,000 kilometers later, this is my story.”

About Unfinished

This is a true story of a woman who experienced such a profound awakening that she could no longer live the same way, the same life she was just one week before. She could no longer ignore the woman who was screaming to be set free from the ties that bind her to a life she no longer desired or recognized. The transformation to become the woman she really wanted to be has propelled her upon the most remarkable self-discovery journey of her life. She sold her home, gave up her career, kissed her children, grandchildren and friend’s good bye, got into her vehicle and just drove away…ALONE. Where was she going? 30,000km later she finds herself in the most unlikely place to try to piece her life together, trying to make sense of the constant feeling of being UNFINISHED. A Book That Can Change Your Life - And How You See Yourself

Book Title: UNFEAR Facing Change In an Era of Uncertainty
Author: Karlin Sloan
Genre: Business/Self Help
ISBN-10: 1452885850
ISBN-13: 978-1452885858
Publisher: CreateSpace

Reviewed by the author of Evidence of Insanity, Carol Piner exclusively for The New Book Review

UNFEAR Facing Change In an Era of Uncertainty, by Karlin Sloan is an astounding book, much as Norman Vincent Peale’s Power of Positive Thinking was. Using staggering intellectualism at times, Sloan is able to break down the barriers we all carry within ourselves and tries to make us see how we can reach a level of confidence and self-reliance, free from fear based reactions. We have all experienced the feelings of insecurity she describes, but she takes those insecurities and shows us the way to overcome them. By association we can change our interactions and make the places where we work more productive.

I loved her the way she shared the ordeal experienced by the crew of the Endurance, their bravery, and the “never-give-up” attitude of leader and explorer Ernest Shackleton. She showed sensitivity and respect in every word she wrote. This was a perfect example of what her book is about and of how we can all look forward to overcoming the obstacles we face in live without being controlled by fear of the unknown. Instead we should the energy lost in fear behaviors, convert it and show others how to turn challenges and change into opportunities for growth, especially when faced we are faced with what seems like overwhelming odds.

Karlin sees the boundaries we surround ourselves with and the fear based excuses we give for doing so --how we allow ourselves to be smothered by fear paralysis, controlled by a fear of failure or through a lack of confidence in our own abilities. Her simple charts, techniques and explanations offer tools that reduce those fears and give the reader a perspective and a path that will free them to reach higher levels of leadership and personal success.

Karlin Sloan has given us a gripping how-to book that everyone should read if they want to go to work looking forward to achieving goals. This book will help you see fear patterns and behaviors for what they are, and realize you have the power to break free from them. Whether you have problems at work, or even at home, the spirit and the principles that she is teaching will help you recognize in yourself the capability of achieving anything if you believe through UNFEAR.

Reviewed by Caroline Myss

Emotional Freedom: Liberate Yourself From Negative Emotions and Transform Your Life written by Judith Orloff MD is the perfect book to come along at the perfect time. I couldn’t put it down!

We live in a tumultuous, fear-dominated period in history and must become masters at overcoming fear and other negative emotions so they don’t sabotage our power. With skill and compassion, Dr. Judith Orloff shows us how to become heroes in our own lives by transforming anger, loneliness, and envy and more rather than simply “reacting” when our buttons get pushed.

An Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCLA and intuition expert, Dr. Orloff shares her wealth of personal and professional knowledge to illuminate the field of emotions. She draws on wisdom from traditional medicine but goes light years beyond it by presenting emotions as a path to spiritual, energetic, and intuitive awakening. Why is this leap so important? The intellect has restricted vision about emotions, but bringing intuition into the feeling realm lets us go deeper within. Dr. Orloff asks us to see every success, every heartbreak, every loss, every gain as vehicles for transformation. She teaches readers to view emotions in a non-ordinary way, rather than simply making you happy or miserable. Everyone will benefit from the insightful instructions that continually guide us and also from the author’s intimate personal journey and well-earned life wisdom. Judith is the kind of doctor we wish we all had.

Part One of the book introduces you to the four components of emotions: their biology, spirituality, energetic power, and psychology. Understanding each component in yourself will lead to inner breakthroughs that aren’t possible without seeing the whole picture. It offers a self-assessment test to evaluate your current level of emotional freedom so you can increase it practicing this book’s principles. Dr. Orloff invites you into her romance with sleep and dreams as revolutionary states of consciousness. She also helps readers determine their “emotional type” including “the intellectual,” and “the empath. “so they can make the most of their own finest qualities. As an empath, Dr. Orloff knows the gigantic challenges of being an “emotional sponge” and teaches other empaths who’ve been labeled “overly sensitive” how to stay grounded in an often-overwhelming world.

You’ll enjoy the “emotional vampire survival guide”--specific advice for dealing with emotional drainers. We’ve all met them. You’re talking to someone, when suddenly you feel anxious, depressed, or tired. She describes the narcissist, the victim, the controller, and other types of vampires. Plus, there are quizzes to help you determine “Are you in a relationship with an emotional vampire?” or if you might be one yourself. Sometimes, we all have the capacity to be draining, but with mindful compassion we can catch ourselves early and make a shift.

Part Two of the book offers a hands-on approach for facing the most prevalent negative emotions and building positive ones Each chapter is called a “transformation” in which you learn how to transform a negative emotion into its counterpoint. For instance, fear is transformed with courage, frustration with patience, and jealousy with self-esteem.

You learn to do this in your life by taking a wealth of quizzes, from Dr. Orloff’s patient studies, and her own intimate journey with each emotion.

Emotional Freedom is the rare book that can open your mind and your heart to more empowerment. Give yourself a gift and read it.

SPECIAL OFFER! Purchase a copy of Emotional Freedom with 100 bonus gifts from Dr. Michael Beckwith, Dr. Christiane Northrup, Shirley MacLaine and more at Judith Orloff MD is at http://www.drjudithorloff.com/emotional-freedom-promotion/  or http://www.drjudithorloff.com/ .

Why I Wrote – How Frank Lloyd Wright Got Into My Head, Under My Skin And Changed The Way I Think About Thinking, A Creative Thinking Blue Print For the 21st Century – Comments from the author, Sandy Sims

Originally I knew this would be a story of interest to people who follow architecture. After reading Wright’s autobiography I had been struck by the idea that not only was he famous but his drawings at the time were selling at auction for the same price as those of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. He had designed over 1,000 designs but some 500 remained unbuilt. In an “a ha” flash I imagined that a collection of Wright’s unrealized designs built in Hawaii would be stunning.

The pursuit of this idea was so compelling, that I innocently and naively began the journey, and what a journey it was. I was cordially invited into many of Wright’s private homes, to meet their owners, and to hear their stories. I became friends with those in the Taliesin Fellowship, some of whom were the earliest apprentices to Frank Lloyd Wright. It was a rich journey. While in the beginning I was attracted to the financial rewards that might have accrued, I later became fascinated by the idea of what it would be like to live inside of the space created by both a mystic and a genius. I found out

Wise Mind, Open Mind by Ronald Alexander, PhD

Title – Wise Mind, Open Mind: Finding Purpose & Meaning in Times of Crisis, Loss, & Change

Author – Ronald Alexander, PhD
Author's website link - http://www.ronaldalexander.com/  & http://www.youtube.com/user/ronaldalexanderphd
Genre or category – Self help, health-mind-body
ISBN – 978-1572246430

We are living in a time of crisis and many of us feel powerless over the anxiety, confusion, and despair that this can trigger. Yet, according to Ronald Alexander, Ph.D., not only are we not powerless over the impact of crisis, we can transform its effects so that we arise from it stronger and more aware. He offers a complete program for doing this in his new book, Wise Mind, Open Mind: Finding Purpose & Meaning in Times of Crisis, Loss, & Change (New Harbinger Publications, September 2009, paperback). In this groundbreaking book Alexander, a pioneer in contemporary psychology, shares his innovative program for using mindfulness meditation, creative thinking, and cutting-edge positive psychology tools to transform times of crisis into opportunities for greater personal awareness, clarity, and creativity. Alexander is available for interview. Here’s just some of what he can discuss:
CREATIVE TRANSFORMATION: A THREE-STEP ART. Alexander offers an original three-step plan for achieving creative transformation in the midst or wake of a crisis. It includes, Letting Go, Tuning Into your Core Creativity, and Moving Forward. In the first step you learn to let go of resistance to change, in the second you learn to tune in to your soul’s deep wisdom; and in third you learn how to move forward based on your newly acquired insight. Alexander offers step-by-step mindfulness meditations for moving through each of these stages.
A PRIMER ON MINDFULNESS MEDITATION PRACTICE AND CREATIVITY THINKING. Mindfulness practice is an exciting new area that blends the best of East and West. By adapting ancient wisdom practices of mindfulness and meditation to positive psychology and the therapeutic process it offers powerful tools for transforming difficult emotions and becoming more aware of oneself and the world. Alexander explains how and why these techniques are so useful in overcoming crisis.

YOUR WISDOM COUNCIL. Alexander recognized that even with powerful mindfulness tools at your disposal, getting through a crisis still requires a support system comprised of caring and wise individuals. It’s why he offers step-by-step help for building a “wisdom council of support” and explains the roles that each member should play. They include: peer, educator, coach, and dharma teacher.

CULTIVATING A WISE MIND & MINDSTRENGTH IN DIFFICULT TIMES. In Buddhism a wise mind is a state of consciousness that allows you to observe your thoughts without becoming emotionally invested in them. Alexander explains: “In wise mind you stop running with your thoughts wherever they take you and find yourself sitting with a sense of serenity and clarity, observing what your mind churns up and easily discerning its qualities, setting aside what’s unwholesome and taking delight in what’s wholesome.” Wise mind results from building mindstrength, the ability to use mindfulness to master thoughts, beliefs, and emotions and tap into the core creativity that empowers you to take positive and wise action. In WISE MIND, OPEN MIND, Alexander shows you how to cultivate mindstrength and achieve wise mind.

FOUR MYTHS ABOUT MINDFULNESS. Myths about mindfulness abound. Alexander debunks four of the most common ones: Practicing mindfulness meditation will conflict with my religious beliefs; I’m too restless and busy to learn to be quiet and practice any form of meditation; If I practice mindfulness it will put out the fire of my ambition and creativity; and If I practice mindfulness, what I’ll discover will be so upsetting that I’ll be paralyzed with fear.

About The Unexpected Son

What happens when a woman who’s realized her dreams wakes up to a shocking truth? It is a morning like any other in suburban New Jersey when Vinita Patil opens the battered envelope postmarked “Mumbai.” But the letter inside turns her comfortable world upside down. It tells Vinita an impossible story: she has a grown son in India whose life may depend on her.

Once upon a time, a naive young college girl fell for a wealthy boy whose primary interests were cricket and womanizing. Vinita knew, even then, that a secret affair with a man whose language and values were different from her own was a mistake. He finished with her soon enough—leaving her to birth a baby that was stillborn. Or so Vinita was told.

Now that child is a grown man in desperate need. How will she confess her secret past to her arranged-marriage husband and her grown daughter? Nonetheless, to help her son, to know him, Vinita must revisit her darkest hours by returning to her battle-scarred homeland—and pray for the faith of the family she leaves behind.

Writer Talks About Reading Books Meant for Other Industries

Frugal and Focused Tweeting for Retailers
By Carolyn Howard-Johnson
Published by HowToDoItFrugally.com
Cover by John Quinn
Launched at the National Stationery Show at Javits Center, NY
Reviewed by Sylvia McClain

Sylvia McClain wrote this note to me after we had a discussion about Twitter for writers and I told her I though she would get lots from my new book on Tweeting, even though it isn't written specifically for writers! She made me pretty happy when she wrote back:

Carolyn:

Just read your book on tweeting and what struck me most is Branding, Branding, and more Branding. Whew! Where do I begin? No, I am not a retailer but as you said, there might be something in it for writers, too!

The book, Frugal and Focused Tweeting, said:

YOUR TWITTER MONIKER is as important for your Twitter branding as it is for your e-mail addresses.

My Epiphany:

Duh! was my first thought; no one knew that my Twitter Moniker "rpmenter" stood for RPM Enterprises (my company name) but me. What everyone knew me by was "Scribal Press," my company imprint publishing name, my Web site and my news calendar of writer events. So before I could finish reading the book, I jumped online and immediately changed my Twitter Moniker everywhere not just on Twitter, from "rpmenter" to "Scribal Press." So my Twitter name is now www.twitter.com/scribalpress.

In Chapter Two, page 30, of Frugal and Focused Tweeting for Retailers, you suggested:

I will make ____ useful contacts a week. Twitter contacts include possible customers, but connecting with vendors, bloggers who write about shopping, and business editors at print and online media, etc., can be equally profitable in the long run.

My Epiphany:

I had no idea what number to use but it made me take notice and start thinking.

In Chapter Three, page 36, Frugal and Focused Tweeting talked... about branding using our Twitter biographies and you gave an example of what you would use for your own store.

I needed to go do a new bio on my Twitter account. Why? Branding that's why.

In Chapter Four, page 57, Frugal and Focused Tweeting said:

Tweet about new blog posts, newsletter editions, Web pages. More on this when we talk about integrating your marketing efforts in Chapter Seven.

My Epiphany:

Why I have never thought of this is beyond me.

Anyway, yes you were right again. There is something in this book for everyone, even those who don't think they want to to tweet.

Sincerely,

Sylvia McClain
