Accidental Angel by Tess Thompson  (the pen name for two writing sisters, Charlene Tess and Judi Thompson) is a true romance novel in every sense of the word. Almost engaged, Dr. Shane Madden finally meets a new right girl and things develop quickly. Although he ends the superficial and materialistic relationship with Elizabeth, he doesn’t inform his new true love, Dena.

Elizabeth was the caviar and martini type who grew up in a family concerned with appearances. Shane grew up in a happy family, and was the blue jeans and outdoors type. Their relationship wasn’t meant to be, but requires quite a bit of disentanglement as Elizabeth’s father, Dr. Fitzpatrick, is the head of the hospital. Will Shane be able to continue working there if he breaks up with Elizabeth? He is threatened with his job unless she marries Elizabeth.

With her divorce almost final, Dena has moved to a small town in Colorado without giving her controlling and abusive ex the address. She begins a job as a pediatric nurse and loves to help her patients. Being a stay-at-home without children only to meet the needs of a demanding man was not what she had wanted. She is worried she may only meet abusive men.

As events unfold, she thinks Shane might be trouble. She grew up with dysfunction and abuse. Shane has a car accident and Dena pulls him out of the car before it explodes. People think Shane falls for her only because she saved his life. He knows better as he never had truly been in love before, but is not able to convince anyone, especially Dena.

Shane moves home to California. His mother, Hollywood Madden, has an at-home kennel to care for animals. His visit home provides a backdrop to know Shane is a caring and responsible person. He becomes a contract doctor to allow Dena time to think. What will she decide?

Angel Falls by Tess Thompson Romantic Suspense Book Review

Title: Angel Falls

Author: Tess Thompson

Genre: Romantic Suspense

5-star rating

This was an amazing story. I loved the authenticity of the NM food, places and people. Russell is a very complicated character, he’s loyal, sexy and conflicted. He’s been through something really bad but you don’t know what at first.

Magdalena is awesome too. She’s strong, loyal to her family and determined. I loved her abuela, who is a psychic and reads the tarot cards. She leads Magdalena is a loving and true way that I absolutely adored. Throw in the psycho ex-boyfriend and it’s seriously interesting. Their problems run deep, but their love runs deeper and I can’t recommend this book more. If you love an emotionally compelling, paranormal read with an addictive storyline you will adore this book like I did.

Terminal Identity Suspense Book Reveals a New Reality

From the publisher:

"Juliette Dreschler awakens to a startling reality. She is only a shell of the woman she used to be after a life-altering accident left her both physically and mentally changed and now someone has marked her for death."

Terminal Identity shares the fictional (based on real life) experience of a family who is dealing with a traumatic brain injury. Not just a TMI, but an international thriller mystery as well. This true explanation is briefly mentioned in the author’s note at the end of the story.

We have a relative who experienced three falls, and with only a mild TBI has fairly significant challenges – organizational issues and distractibility -- which make it difficult for her to be productive. The story was based on fact, although many people have more than the minimal impairment of the character Juliette. The story rang true for me, which I liked.

One character has to split his time between visiting the hospital, working with the Police, and meeting with a private investigator. The family also has to divide their time especially as the story happens in both Switzerland and the USA. The different time zones, distinct hospital rules in two countries, and necessary international travel complicate the story for added suspense. Romance adds to the story.

A stolen identity is revealed near the end of the story, and it not at all what I first would have imagined -- if I had seen it coming. The plot has plenty of surprises as it moves right along. Some suspicious characters that seem guilty are not, It is hard to know which people can be trusted.

One part of the story-within-the-main-story I enjoyed was about the adoption of a baby. I am partial to adoption stories with an adopted daughter myself. A play within the play, so to speak.

One of the main bad guys is a doctor that you will love to hate!
