Tracey Quintin Admires Memoirists "Incredible LIfe Story"

Title:  6200 Carbon Canyon Road

ISBN-13: 978-1628680973
Reviewer's Rating: 5 star

Terri Lenee Peake wrote this story in hopes to save others seeking the life she wished for.
Very candidly Terri writes of the turbulent life she grew up in and hoped to escape only to find the turbulent life follow her in other ways as she aged.

Terri went through so very much growing up, not having great parental influence to help guide her, leaving her susceptible to prey.

She is totally open as she recalls her life, lifestyle, opinions and choices.

I felt for Terri in reading this. She persevered! Even though her life plan didn't go as she had hoped, she survived through so much. She never said a word in her story of feeling like she wanted pity, rather it is what it is attitude. She's got such strength and sweetness that I was able to see in reading this.
I'm really trying not to give away anything that happens in this story so you'll have to read it to find out! I very highly recommend. Kudos Terri for sharing your incredible life story with us readers!

Reviewer Committed to Jacelyn Rye's Books

Title:  Surrender to Fate
Series: Part One of Fate's Path
Author: Jacelyn Rye
ISBN #:   B00FA2B9US
Reviewer's Rating: 5 star

Reviewed by Tracey Quintin originally for Goodreads

A Commitment. LOVED THIS BOOK & COMMITTED TO JACELYN’S BOOKS! ABSOLUTE MUST READ.

When I first started reading this book and saw it began in 1942, I thought to myself uh-oh I’m not going to enjoy this because I haven’t been interested in historical romances in quite some time. With that said, before I even completed Chapter 1 I was COMPLETELY RIVETED! I don’t think this falls into the typical “historical” romance category so if you aren’t into that either, you MUST READ THIS!

Jacelyn has written this totally captivating book so that the characters and story are vividly and beautifully brought to life. I literally wanted to live and breathe this book and for it to never end. The emotional journey you are taken on is enormous. You feel the emotions of each of the characters, you feel like you are at the locations described – all with such unbelievable clarity. I literally felt such pure heartfelt emotion reading every single page of this book.

In this story, you are taken on a journey that begins with 2 families in Colorado, parents and children the best of friends – neighbors, always there to help and support each other in any way, sharing events and holidays together. A sweet, tender, beautiful romance emerges from friendship between the son and daughter of each of the families.

Back then times were so tough, families fought hard to keep food on the table and being able to support their farms. Fate changes the path of 1 family with the promise of a steady job for the head of the house offered by an old friend that takes them from their “home” in Colorado and those they love to a brand new beginning in California. Dreams must be left behind for both families and children and love pulled away too soon.

In California, everything is different – the weather, the farm, the people, the stability. The family has a hard time transitioning to their new California roots as warm and inviting as the friend’s farm is and his family. With the passing of time, feelings of what used to be “home” seem to diminish but can you ever really let those feelings go? There are a lot of miles separating Colorado from California.

A crushing event happens to 1 of the families that turns their life upside down. Will they be able to ever find happiness again or will everything remain a memory?

The children grow and mature. Relationships grow, new romances develop on a more mature level but do they trust that the answer will come at the right time and be clear as to when and if to move on?

A 3 cent postage stamp can keep the connection through a letter – should the stamp be used? When should it be used? Would it make it there if used?

The attack on Pearl Harbor happens, sending young men to prepare for battle. Are decisions made too late?

I can’t rave enough about this book! I literally highlighted so many parts in the book that meant so much to me as a reader. There’s a thought from a main character in the story “...Once something leaves a profound mark on the heart, the mark is always there…certain that while the mark may fade with time, the scar would remain...” This book to me certainly was no scar, but has left a profound mark on MY heart.

Be prepared for an emotionally charged book that’s for sure with a major cliffhanger. Oh and read it to find out about “Me Ware Wo”! WOW!!!!

I have found another favorite author and absolutely can’t wait to read more of Jacelyn’s work. BRAVO on a brilliant piece of work! I’m STILL emotional about this book.

Denise Buss Pens Christian Story to Inspire

More and more people are being hit with depression, fear, and anxiety. Mind-altering drugs and sleeping pills have become regular items in many medicine cabinets. People are searching for the peace that eludes them. Denise Buss was no exception. She became paralyzed by fear and anxiety and couldn’t see a way out. As Denise’s story unfolds in the pages of this book, you will find encouragement that you are not alone. And even more importantly, you will see that there is a way out of the oppression that torments you or someone you love.
When Denise cried out to God for help, her heavenly Father sent someone to bring about God’s plan for her life. Her courage and obedience to God broke the demonic hold that Satan had on her. Denise’s most important realization was that it wasn’t just one incident that put her in this pit of agony, but layers and layers of wrong thinking and abuse. Therefore, it was going to take not just a renewal of her mind, but also deliverance and inner healing. Forgiving wrongs that had been done to her was an important step to her spiritual freedom. Because Denise was willing to make the effort and be persistent, her life was transformed into His Original Design—the glorious creation God had always intended it to be. You may not have a friend like she did to walk you out of your imprisonment, but we all have the precious Holy Spirit, the Helper, to guide us into freedom.
Original Design is a treasure chest of personal stories, valuable examples, and the most relevant Scriptures. If you are seeking the peace and happiness that our Father intended for us to enjoy, Denise’s experience, as told in this book, will give you a boldness to put on the Armor of God and fight against the enemy who works to destroy us all.

Interview: California Author Keep Promise to Dying Wife

Hi! I am Carolyn Howard Johnson, your trusty New Book Review blogger and author of the multi award-winning HowTo Do It Frugally Series of books for writers. This blog has heretofore been exclusive for reviews but I thought I’d do a special series of interviews after I chatted with Jeanie Loiacono, President of Loiacono Literary Agency – Where ‘can’t’ is not in our vocabulary!  I thought sharing the interviews would help the many subscribers and visitors to this New Book Review blog, including authors, reviewers, and, of course, readers who just might find a new favorite author among the featured books and authors.

So, today welcome Jack Martin.

After receiving his Juris Doctorate from UCLA, he worked for The Department of Defense and the aerospace industry, specializing in contracts and regulatory issues. Tracing his Californian ancestry all the way back to the 1830s, Martin developed a passion for American history and the mystery genre. With encouragement and support from his beloved wife Sonia, he began writing. She passed away on Christmas Eve 2009 following a brave battle against ovarian cancer. He promised her he would finish the books and become a published author. He dedicated his first novel, John Brown’s Body to her, the love of his life.

Martin is the author of the Alphonso Clay Mystery Series set during the Civil War: John Brown’s Body, Battle Cry of Freedom, Marching Through Georgia, The Battle Hymn of the Republic, Hail Columbia. His latest novel is Brother, Can You Spare a Dime? Now Clay lives on…

  1. What is your genre? I write fiction, concentrating on historical mystery.
  2. What made you want to be a writer? The desire to tell tales that would fascinate people.
  3. Of all the authors out there, who inspired you most? It's a tie between H. P. Lovecraft and Robert Heinlein.
  4. What is your writing style? Do you outline? Linearly? By scene? Why? Usually I outline, but quite often I will write by scene. On several occasions, a particular scene or series of scenes have come to me in vivid dreams, and I find myself trying to construct the novel to incorporate those scenes.
  5. Do you write every day? How much? How long? I write two or three hours a day, every other day. Hey, I'm old!
  6. Do you think reading is as important to writing for an author? Why? Reading is just as important to a writer, if for no other reason than to get an idea of what his target audiences like to read.
  7. What are some of the things you would like to share with budding authors? Don't let rejections get you down, and write in genres that you personally enjoy.
  8. Do you have any marketing and promotional advice, referrals, tips you would like to share? Frankly, getting a good agent is the best thing you can do. I sold nothing until I got a brilliant agent!
  9. Do you think conferences are beneficial? If so, what have you learned? Which ones do you frequent? They can be beneficial, if for no other reason than meeting fellow authors and exchanging professional information. Left Coast Crime and Bouchercon are good conferences for mystery writers.
Where can we find you, your books and when is your next event? No events scheduled at this time. My books may be found on: Amazon  Fish Pond  The Book Depository  BAM  B&N  Waterstones  Indie Bound  Google Play

Former ABC Correspondent Recommends Intercultural Book

Perception and Deception

" Read It!  This should be required reading not just for overseas travelers, but for anyone living in an increasingly diversified and multi-cultural world who wants to create a more understanding and accepting society. Hopefully that's all of us.

As a globetrotting journalist and retiree, I have been exposed to many differences in attitude and behavior around the world and here in the U. S., which I always accepted but now admit never fully understood. Even in my 37 year bicultural marriage, behavior and practices I assumed to be quirks or the result of upbringing, I now realize are based in culture and tradition. Yes, 'Perception and Deception' opened my mind.
Mr. Joe (a title referenced in the book) not only explains cultural differences but more importantly why they exist. Even if that doesn't lead to total acceptance, at least it can help us become more tolerant, something today's world so desperately needs."

Reviewer Wants More from LGBT Short Fiction Writer

Title:  Made in the Stars
Author: Jim Proctor
Genre:  Literature & Fiction, Short Reads, Lesbian Fiction, LGBT
ISBN #:   B00IFR1AOK
Reviewer's Rating: 4 star

Reviewed by Tracey Quintin originally for Goodreads

First time I've read not only work from this Author but also this genre. It was a light, enjoyable, quick read.

Who doesn't want to find their life mate? Some are searching, some of us have found. How fun and cool would it be if this could be done in this futuristic way? Heck, everything futuristic in this short story would be cool!

I am very picky with books I read and want a fine balance between dialogue and details / descriptions. For that reason I rate this 4 stars. I found myself wanting more detail and wondering what some things were.

If you want a sci-fi romance that's fun and lighthearted, yet don't need great detail, I recommend you read!

Reviewer Gives Women's Fiction 10+ Stars

Title:  Flowers in the Snow (Betty's Book)
The Edenville Series Book 1
Author: Danielle Stewart
Genre:  Literature & Fiction, Sagas, Women’s Fiction
ISBN #:   B00SN3EZKW
Reviewer's Rating: 5 star

Danielle Stewart remains my #1 and on my pedestal as she ALWAYS delivers an outstanding read and this read is 10+ stars! I could not put this book down, was captured from the cover on. WOW.

Betty's story takes us back to a time where unlikely friendships are born and love exists through courage, strength and determination to stand up for what is right during the turbulent civil rights times when discrimination was rampant. My eyes fill with tears as I write this because NO one should have to endure what the main characters in this story did. I laughed, I cried, I was happy, I was angry, I was sad, I was every emotion possible in reading this amazing story.

Danielle writes in such a skillfully mastered way that she delivers a brilliant historically woven read that captures your heart, breaks your heart and puts your heart back together again. You understand what makes the characters WHO they are. What an eye opener for me of events that truly happened back in those times.

I personally think everyone should read this story. If you lived it, it may help you heal. If you weren't aware, it will open your eyes towards the injustice that was done.

Bravo Danielle for tackling a very difficult subject with such finesse. What an absolute GEM of a read. I can only imagine the emotions that Danielle went through in writing this beautifully crafted work. Outstanding and can't wait for more!
